So…It’s been a damn long time since I have updated, and in this short period of absence I have started a few new projects. First & foremost is a new Zine which I am creating with a good friend of mine, Max Buchannan, called ‘Exposed.’ The purpose of Exposed is to showcase up and coming artists/designers/photographers & writers with one goal in mind – to expose them and their artwork to the people of Brisbane City, and hopefully in the future, to the rest of Australia. We are starting out small, with a limited 20 page first edition, which will include a few features and collaborations of local work. This is a completely self funded project, but something we strongly believe our city is in dire need of. If you feel you can help out in any way possible, or want to have some of your work included in an upcoming edition, please feel free to email us at exposedbrisbane@gmail.com, or visit the blog here!
In other news, I am in the middle of writing a short film for the upcoming Tropfest with a few close friends of mine. We are still at very early stages of this project, so I will report back when I have more light to shed.

**there are loads more to come, I am just way too tired right now!**
Just got back from tour in Sydney. I took some photos on Max’s camera. Thought I would show some just because I can. If you keen to look at the entirety, go to Max Buchannans blog.

Seriously though, there are more that Max took on his blog, as well as hilarious videos to come. Go here now!
So about a year and a half ago, I came up a concept of a cartoon I would like to write. I thought I would post an Illustrator drawing of the main characters that I did a long time ago. The storyline, however, will remain a mystery until writing is properly underway. Check back regularly for updates.

My dog, Teaka has recently moved into my new house. On Saturday night she experienced her first house party. Here is some video of her playing with balloons.

So as you are probably quite aware by now, the design of this blog is part of my assessment for my Web Design subject at Uni. The first part of the assessment was to create a series of mock ups of what I would have liked the overall layout of the site to look like. These original mock ups can be found in the ‘Design’ section of my Portfolio.
Quite clearly, the layout of my portfolio has changed significantly when compared to the original mockups. In practicing design, I am constantly changing my mind about the look and feel I give to my pieces, and this portfolio was no exception. As you can see with the original mock ups, I intended on incorporating a soft yellow colour scheme throughout the portfolio, however, as time went on, I found myself not finding it as visually appealing as I did in the inital stages of Design. This led me to re-explore the possible colour variations i could adapt to the portfolio. It’s safe to say that throughout all of my design work, I find a kind of warmth and appeal when using a gray scale colour scheme, so I decided to adapt that personal love to my site, and I was immediately won over.
My main need for the portfolio is for others to view my work at ease, and learn about me not just as a Designer, but in my Social environment also. In order to do this, I decided to keep my Portfolio as professional and simplistic as I could, so not to introduce the user to any unnecessary & pointless information. Furthermore, I feel the new layout (although the basics are adapted from my initial mock ups) is a much more appealing site that presents information clearly and precisely while still adhering to my own Design Aesthetics.

So after scrolling through a bunch of new Tweets received yesterday, I came across an update from a friend, Lochy, advertising another personal blog space. After clicking the link and navigating to the new page, I was instantly intruiged by what I saw. The page consists of a series of pictures of a young boy and his dog – Sometimes individual, but a majority of them together, interacting. I instantly fell in love with the blog – Every picture is candid – no sets, no lighting, no over the top models and no posing – just a natural documentation of the subjects. I found the blog extremely unique when compared to many other Photography portfolios on the web for one main reason – the subjects remain the same in every photo, and every photo effectively tells a story to the viewer, while documenting the lives of those very close to the Photographers heart. If you get the chance, look at every photo on this page and immerse yourself in, and fall in love with, the story of the ‘boy and his dog.’

Meanwhile…
I’ve been staying at my parents the last few days as I’ve been sick, and needed a good dose of TLC. Being a Uni student, I tend not to eat well, and spend what little money I have on alcohol and records. So when I come home, I know I’m going to get looked after, and even better, not have to lift a finger in the process. So whenever an opportunity such as this arises, I use it to my advantage, watching as many films and Documentaris as I possibly can. After being recommended by a friend, I decided to sit down and watch:

The documentary kicks off 1 day after the extinction of man, and tells the story of what will happen to the Planet as nature slowly reclaims its territory. Partly based on scientific research, and partly based on educational guesses and theories, the film attempts to raise questions, and provide the answers to, a topic no one will ever truly be able to explain. Sit down, watch, and make your own mind up about ‘Life After People.’
This blog is going to look out of whack for a little while, as I’m currently in the process of creating my own layout for it. Sorry it looks pretty dismal, but it should be good to go in a short amount of time. Keep checking back
